Day 6 - Bow Falls and Hot Springs

For our final full day in Banff we did a hike along a trail that led to the Bow Falls right within the town. At this point the superlatives just sort of run out and you have to sit back and just admire the incredible scenery before yo
u.

In the afternoon we also went to the Banff hot springs at the base of Sulfur Mountain. These natural hot spring waters were known by the Native Americans in the region, and in the 1880's an enterprising group of fur traders decided to build a bath house on the site, Eventually this led to the creation of the Banff Hot Springs Preserve and in short order the Rocky Mountains Park (Canada's first National Park).
Today you can not bathe in the springs but there is a nice exhibit and informative tour.
That evening was our "night out" to celebrate our time in beautiful Banff. We had met a local who highly recommended the restaurant at the TimberLine Inn. Dinner was very nice featuring Alberta beef, and our waiter was really excellent. Even better than the meal, however, was the incredible view we had of the mountains as the sun slowly sank into the western sky!
